Who can participate?

Everyone is welcome. Whether you are just beginning or already an experienced performer, this competition is open to all who practice throat singing. Participants share the stage with a diverse community of singers, each bringing their own voice and style.

Performances are evaluated by an expert jury on technique, creativity, and musicality: but just as importantly, the competition is a space to connect, learn, and celebrate the art of throat singing together.

How does the competition work?

The competition takes place over three days, giving participants the opportunity to showcase both their personal style and their connection to traditional throat singing repertoire.

Day 1 — Open Round (july 22)

All registered participants perform two pieces:

  • One a cappella performance to demonstrate vocal technique and control.
  • One piece of their own choice, with or without instrumental accompaniment.

At the beginning of Day 2, the jury will announce which participants advance to the Semi-Final Round. Approximately half of all participants will continue, so please be prepared to perform on multiple days.

Day 2 — Semi-Final Round (23 July)

Semi-finalists perform one piece selected from a set of four traditional throat singing works from Tuva, Altai, and Mongolia. These pieces will be announced well in advance, allowing participants ample time to study and prepare.

On the morning of Day 3, the finalists will be announced. If you advance, be prepared to perform again in the final round!

Day 3 — Final Round (24 July)

Finalists perform two pieces:

  • One piece of their own choice.
  • One piece from the traditional repertoire introduced during the semi-final.

The winners and special award recipients will be announced during the festival closing ceremony.
